Hi! I’m Kash

Hi! I’m Kash. Allow me to introduce myself properly.
My full name is Kashope. I am a Nigerian woman, born and living in London. A natural nomad, I have lived, studied and worked in many different places and amongst very different cultures. I studied here in England as well as Nigeria and America. This diverse background has given me a rich understanding of world history, which makes me love life in a way that can be unusual to many. My other travels, holidays and adventures have also been a huge source of inspiration for me.
I studied fashion design at Herriot Watt, graduating in 2016 and found myself heavily influenced by deconstruction in fashion; upcycling and sustainability in the fashion industry has always been my passion. Since then, I have worked in vintage fashion doing a variety of things including buying and administration. I even had the honour of helping my previous employer open a vintage boutique in Camden Passage, London.
In 2019 I started Kiss of Life Denim, a Green Fashion Start-Up Finalist at the Mayor of London’s Entrepreneur Award 2019 for Creative Industries. The idea for the company was prompted by some of the issues we face today, particularly those in the fashion industry: the throw-away culture, the unsustainable production, fast fashion and so on. I wanted to create a business that was built around producing beautiful and fashionable pieces from old and unwanted denim.
Since founding Kiss of Life Denim, I’ve been challenging myself to explore new areas and new ways to bring my expertise and passion for art, design and vintage fashion to fruition. Like a second wind, my jolt of inspiration came in the 2020 Lockdown when my idle fingers started tinkering with bits of old and broken jewellery. Before I knew it, I’d created a series of pieces that I was excited about and wanted to share with the world. Since then it’s snowballed into Maverick Musing, a circular sustainable upcycling jewellery community. The concept unites so much of what I love and what I care about.
And so here we are. That’s me and my story so far. And it's only just starting! I am so excited about the journey ahead. I can’t wait to share my passion for extending the life of fashion and vintage jewellery with you and I can’t wait for you to be part of that journey.
